Lecture “Develop multi-modality high field fMRI with concurrent fiber optic calcium and glutamate recording”

On 17.6.-18.6.2019. Dr. Xin Yu Research Group Leader from Max Planck Institute for Biological Cybernetics in Tübingen, visited our institute.
Dr. Yu received his B.S. Degree from Wuhan University in China and Ph.D. from New York University (NYU) in the United States.
His major interest is to understand the self-adaptation capability of brain to the external and internal cues.
He has a broad research experience from molecular and cellular biology to functional brain mapping with advanced Magnetic Resonance Imaging(MRI) techniques.
He had studied the regulation of mu opioid receptor mRNA expression in the human
neuroplastoma cells following immune challenge.
Later, he went to the Neuroscience PhD program at NYU school of Medicine and studied
the in vivo MRI imaging of the auditory system in genetically engineered mice.
After graduated in 2007, he moved to NIH to work with Dr. Alan Koretsky as a research fellow.
Right now, Dr. Yu works as an independent research group leader in Max Planck Institute for Biological Cybernetics, High field magnetic resonance in Germany.
He wants to understand how brain functions at the molecular, cellular and circuit levels, and eventually to gain control of the brain.
Dr. Xin Yu visited our laboratories, he met scientists working on a similar topic and he gave lecture “Develop multi-modality high field fMRI with concurrent fiber optic calcium and glutamate recording”. After the lecture, a fruitfull discussion with the scientists took place.
