Personal history

  • 1974 – born in Brno, Czech Republic
  • 1989-93 – grammar school Vídeňská in Brno, specialization in mathematics and physics
  • 1993-98 – Institute of Physical Engineering, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Brno University of Technology
  • 1998 – diploma thesis “Application of laser diode for optical trapping”, final grade: honours degree, title Ing. (Czech equivalent of MSc. in technical sciences)
  • 1998-2005 – postgraduate studies in the same faculty
  • 2005 – doctoral thesis “Microscopy with optically held local probe”, achieved Ph.D. in Physical and Material Engineering
  • 1997-2002 – student researcher at the Institute of Scientific Instruments (undergraduate → Ph.D. student)
  • 2002-now – employee of the Institute of Scientific Instruments (technical worker → postgraduate → associate scientist → scientist)

During my university education I worked in the team of Optical Micromanipulation Techniques (OMITEC) in the Institute of Scientific Instruments of the Czech Academy of Sciences in Brno and both the diploma and Ph.D. theses were prepared there.
